High Winds Cause Power Outages Across Region

Power crews worked Sunday evening to restore electricity after Sunday’s high winds caused some power outages around the area.

Much of east Kentucky saw wind gusts exceeding 40 MPH.

In West Liberty, a 50 MPH wind gust was recorded Sunday by the Kentucky Mesonet weather station.

Both Kentucky Power and Big Sandy R.E.C.C. reported hundreds without power at one point Sunday evening.

Much of the power has been restored but crews are still working in other areas to restore power as soon as possible.
