An in-person meeting to update the community on the construction of the Johnson County Section 202 Flood Risk Reduction Project will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 6pm – 8pm at the Country Music Highway Museum in Paintsville. Representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and iROW will provide a project update and presentation on the Sec 202 Flood Risk Management Project, aka as the “Floodwall Project.”
Some topics to be discussed include:
- Update on the Phase 2 Construction that is near completion
- Discussion concerning Phase I, the FWEEP (Flood Warning Emergency Evacuation Program)
- Update on two stormwater relocation projects
- The ROE (Right-of Entry) process and its importance
- Revisions to Phase 3, including an update on the Walnut/Washington areas
- New project timeline
- Opportunity to comment and ask questions
The project is intended to reduce flood risk for the city of Paintsville. This project will implement solutions to protect the City of Paintsville from recurring flood events. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting.
