The Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce is proud to award scholarships to students at nine schools though the region as part of its Excellence in Education Program.
Five schools in Johnson County, one in Floyd County and three in Pike County are celebrating.
The chamber’s Excellence in Education Grant Program awards educators with funding for innovative projects that enrich the education of students across the region, the statement said.
Flat Gap Elementary School was awarded 14-hundred dollars for the school’s student-led daily newscast to be upgraded.
Floyd Central High School received 15-hundred dollars for students to get hands-on entrepreneurship experiences, including business planning and marketing.
Johnson Central Elementary School received 1-thousand dollars for 80 students to participate in pottery classes.
