Embankment Repairs to Impact Traffic on KY 40 in Johnson County

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 12 advises motorists of upcoming traffic impacts on KY 40 in Johnson County due to embankment repairs.

Contractor GeoStabilization International (GSI) is scheduled to begin work on Tuesday, May 12, at approximately mile point 10.041. The project will focus on stabilizing the embankment and restoring the integrity of the roadway.

Work is expected to last approximately one week, weather permitting.

What motorists should expect:

  • One lane closure at the work site
  • Temporary traffic signals controlling traffic
  • Significant delays, especially during peak travel times
  • A busy, high-traffic area with changing conditions

Due to the volume of traffic on this section of KY 40, motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and consider alternate routes if possible.

KYTC reminds drivers that ensuring the safety of the traveling public and work crews is the highest priority. Please slow down, stay alert, and follow all posted signage and traffic signals when traveling through the work zone.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change. Updates will be provided as the project progresses.
