Former Paintsville Doctor Acquitted on All Charges in Federal Trial

A former Paintsville doctor has been acquitted of all charges in connection to allegations of unlawful distribution.

Dr. Loey Kousa was also facing two counts of lying in connection to healthcare benefits and healthcare fraud.

The indictment claimed Kousa was writing prescriptions for opiods to patients who did not have a legitimate medical reason to use them.

The trial in London resulted in Dr. Kousa being found not guilty on all nine counts against him.

A judge ordered he be discharged from any supervision and conditions – and bond be revoked.
