Authorities discovered human remains Monday morning while conducting a search in Knott County.
Troopers with the Kentucky State Police, in coordination with volunteer search and rescue personnel and K-9 handlers from Indiana K-9 United, conducted a search of a wooded area off Big Branch Road in the community of Amburgey.
The remains were discovered shortly before 10:00 a.m.
The Knott County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and pronounced the individual deceased.
The remains have been transported to Frankfort for autopsy and positive identification.
