The Sheriff of Johnson County, Scott Hazelette, received several injuries last week while trying to arrest Casey Spence in Inez.
The Sheriff and deputies responded to a complaint of a man who appeared to be intoxicated trespassing on several properties.
While being put under arrest, Spence is accused of hitting Sheriff Hazelette several times giving the Sheriff a gash on the left side of his head.
Spence is charged with assault of a police officer, fleeing police, trespassing, and resisting arrest.
The Sheriff drove himself to the hospital for treatment.
