Martin Police Chief Fired After One Month on the Job

After only about one month on the job, the city council in Martin is parting ways with its top cop.  Police Chief Michael Cagle was fired Tuesday night.

At the beginning of the city council meeting, it was announced that Cagle had signed a termination letter.

This comes about a month after Cagle’s appointment as police chief.

However, two weeks ago, Cagle began protesting Mayor Sam Howell, calling for Howell’s resignation.

He wasn’t the only one.  Other first responders claimed the mayor has subjected them to mistreatment and misconduct for years.

City Council members say the firing was solely the decision of Howell, which did not attend Tuesday night’s council meeting.
