Pike County officials are reportedly saying no to working out a deal with a private landfill company.
At a special meeting Tuesday, the Pike County Fiscal Court decided to sever an agreement with American Land Reserve to talk about building and operating a landfill.
The commissioners approved the contract last month but have since gotten a lot of community backlash at the idea of trash from other counties being brought in to Pike.
WYMT reports Judge-Executive Ray Jones was for it, having worked for years on how to solve the looming cost of building a new landfill without financially hurting citizens.
