PSC Approves Scaled-Back Rate Increase for Kentucky Power

After months of public hearings and deliberations, the Kentucky Public Service Commission has agreed to let Kentucky Power raise rates, but not as much as they wanted.

The PSC has agreed to 5.87% for later this year and then another 0.76% increase a year later.

That amounts to about $11 a month for the average user.

Kentucky Power had wanted a nearly 15% raise which would have been about $27 a month.

Meanwhile the PSC also ordered Kentucky Power to undergo an independent audit of their operations and relationship with parent company American Electric Power.
