State of Emergency Declared in Magoffin County Due to Sewer Line Fracture

The Magoffin County Judge Executive Matt Wireman and Salyersville Mayor Stanley Howard have declared a state of emergency in Magoffin County.

An email sent to residents reported that a fracture of a main sewer line near the plant on US-460 has led to raw sewage entering the Licking River.

This discovery has resulted in a major disruption in the sewage system, as well as potentially posing health and environmental risks.

Wireman said an emergency contractor is already on the way to tackle the issue.

This means avoiding excessive activities like running dishwashers, doing laundry, taking long showers, or flushing toilets unnecessarily.
